-SECOND MEXICAN EMPIRE-

The unstable Republic failed leaving the country alongside emperor Maximilian's crown, who was brought by the conservative politicians in a comission led by Juan Almonte, son of Morelos. This second empire lasted from 1863 to 1867 and revolutionized the Mexican coin, implementing the decimal system and therefore, changing the currency name to cents and pesos.
